5 things every Cairns student must experience

Cairns is like the DREAM, the whole package. It has got it all-the gorgeous bleaches, stunning rainforest, islands, tropical weather, waterfalls, The Great Barrier Reef, and so much more! And, if you are lucky enough to make this dream vacation place your new abode for university, then let’s just say the student accommodation Cairns has to offer is quite rad as well. Located in Far North Queensland, Cairns is a beautiful tropical paradise with sprawling mountainous rainforest, lovely gorges, glistening beaches, and bustling markets, attracting almost 3 million tourists each year.

Living here is basically like vacation vibes all year round. There is never a dull moment, in fact, it will be super hard to be bored with so many things to do and places to visit. Scroll down to read more on the 5 top things you simply have to do! Well, other than visiting the popular hotspots….

#1 Take the leap

You know how people say to push your limits, well this is basically that, but quite literally! Skypark by AJ Hackett offers Australia’s only Bungy jump, teetering 50 metres above a deep natural lagoon. The adrenaline rush will be on a whole another level with this one! They also have a giant multi-person swing and Cairns’ highest viewing platform.

#2 Slide down into the reef

The Sunlover pontoon offers a range of activities like snorkelling, glass-bottom boat tours, underwater observatory, fish feeding, etc. And, hidden amongst these is the spiralling waterslide atop Moore Reef! It’s fun and thrilling..the good kind, not the heart-attack-inducing one!

#3 Basking under a thunderous wall of water

Nothing beats a day of exploring the cascading falls of Cairns with friends, soaking and chilling in the plunge pools. The sheer joy and exhilaration of it cannot be described in words. Not to mention, it will kinda end up being a mini road trip, and every student has to go on one of those. It’s a rite of passage!

#4 Ride the cableway

The full Cairn student experience is not complete without sitting in a gondola and riding the Skyrail Cableway high above the incredible rainforest canopy. The views of the rainforest, the Coral Sea and the Cairns highlands are just ufff….*speechless*! And, while you are at it, you might as well head to Kuranda Koala Gardens and cuddle a koala.

#5 Party at a waterfront bar

A big part of university life is partying crazy hard and wild, and what better way to do that than dancing all night long with an uninterrupted view of the glittering blue water. Rocco Rooftop Bar, The Pier, and Salt House are some of the more iconic ones. There are lots of tourists from all over the world visiting as well, so you can spread your social butterfly wings and chat away.

Just give them a shot, you will have the time of your life!
